Hello Everyone! Summer is fast approaching, but as I write, the temperature is 45 degrees outside! Hopefully, as you read this, it is a bit warmer. Depending on our mailing dates, the 2008 Grand Lodge Annual Communication is upon us, or has just concluded.
On May 1, 2008, our lodge visited Junction City Lodge #128, as a group. We had an excellent turnout, and were lucky to be there for the official visit of RW Brother Don Meier, District Deputy for District 13. I wish to thank Junction City Lodge #128 for their hospitality.
The May Stated Communication was crowded as several members of Eugene Lodge #11 came to visit us. They happen to know a thing or two about parking cars as a fund raiser, as they have done so for years with their lodge building across the street from Autzen Stadium. Regarding our parking fund raiser, a schedule of the 2008 Beaver home football games was distributed at the meeting, and is also available online through the OSU athletic department web site. Start making plans to join us as we park cars to raise money for the scholarship program.
Brother Scott Bleadon was examined on his proficiency in the lecture of the Master Mason degree. He performed admirably, and it was my honor and privilege to declare him proficient in the lecture. I know he is looking forward to visiting other lodges!
Also at the stated meeting, we discussed the Grand Lodge proposed legislation and the Lodge 50th Anniversary celebration plans. The 50th Anniversary celebration will be held at the lodge on Monday, September 8, 2008, before the Stated Communication. We will be holding our near-annual rummage sale on Saturday, September 27, 2008 (Fall Festival Weekend) with the proceeds going to help defray the costs of the 50th Anniversary celebration.
For those working on the Torchlight program, the last TorchNight session will be Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at the lodge hall library. We will begin at 7PM sharp.
I am happy to report the lodge has sold out our allotment of 2008 Youth Pins, and the proceeds have been remitted to the Grand Lodge Youth Activities Committee. Thanks to all who supported the Masonic Family youth groups by buying pins.
The June Officers Meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at 7:00pm at Bill Cohnstaedt's home. The next Stated Communication is at 7:30 pm on Monday, June 9, 2008.
ALL-MASONIC PICNIC ALERT!!!
Our Junior Warden, Charles Ippoliti, is working with the Junior Warden of Corvallis #14 to prepare for the annual All-Masonic picnic. Please put the date on your calendar and plan to join us for "food, fun, and fellowship" at the Lions Shelter, located at the south end of Avery Park in Corvallis, on Thursday, July 10, 2008.
Please visit the lodge web site, which is up and running at: www.CorvallisMasons.com
