Hello Everyone! The year is going fast and the 2008 Grand Lodge Annual Communication is just around the corner.
On March 18, 2008, our lodge visited St. John's #17 in Albany, as a group. St. John's had an interesting meeting, with a 50 Year Jewel presentation and excellent conversation at refreshment. A big "Thank You" goes out to St. John's #17 for their hospitality.
The March 2008 Stated Communication had a very full agenda, starting with an official visit by our District Deputy for District #12, RW Brother Dan Strand. RW Brother Strand took care of the Official Visit business in timely fashion and honored us with a brief but meaningful address.
During the meeting, the altar was draped for our departed Brother Ed Reynolds, a charter member of Mary's River Lodge, who passed away last month.
Also during the meeting, the lodge unanimously passed a resolution declaring WB William "Bill" Eddy an Honorary Past Master of Mary's River Lodge. Many brothers present expressed their surprise that WB Eddy had not held this position in the past, leading yours truly to note the nickname "Artful Dodger" would be appropriate. So, the next time you encounter WB Eddy, you can congratulate him by using his new nickname "Artie".
The scholarship committee reported regarding their work finalizing the content for the pamphlet which will be distributed to area schools and organizations soliciting scholarship applications. If you desire to provide input at this stage, please contact Secretary Bill Cohnstaedt or Senior Warden David Bailey.
Brother David Baker completed his proficiency examination on the lecture of the MM Degree during open lodge. Congratulations, Brother Baker!
Plan to go with us to visit Junction City Lodge #128 on Thursday, May 1, 2008.
The May Officers Meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 6th, 2008 at 7:00pm at Bill Cohnstaedt's home. The next Stated Communication is at 7:30 pm on Monday, May 12th, 2008. Our District Deputy, RW Brother Dan Strand, will make his official visit in April, so plan to attend.
